I feel extremely fortunate to have had such a rich and varied career to date working with young people in a variety of settings. After completing my BA (Hons) Drama in 2000 I trained as a Drama teacher in Hull and spent 10 years working as a head of subject in secondary schools. Highlights of my teaching career include taking a group of 80 students, parents and staff to Sydney Australia to perform (and raising £180,000 to get there!)
I have always taken immense pride in achieving the very best standards with my students within a safe and supportive environment and this is something I strive to continue throughout my work here at bMINDful.
Since leaving teaching in 2014 to focus on my young family, I have also set up a successful community theatre organisation. Our work has consisted of setting up youth provisions funded by the Big Lottery, working with Cornerhouse Yorkshire encouraging vulnerable youngsters to express themselves through performing arts, bespoke projects in schools to enhance academic and personal performance and touring a play written and produced by ourselves around non-theatrical venues in Hull.
At the heart of all my work has been a passion to encourage young people to recognise their unique qualities and see beyond what they 'think' they can achieve.
What can I offer?
I offer both 1:1 resilience coaching and group courses in mindfulness and mental resilience.
As well as my own daily mindfulness practise, I have trained in a 10 week teach mindfulness course studying in MSBR and MBCT practices with leading mindfulness teacher Shamash Alidina.
I'm fully trained to teach the .b and paws B curricula with MiSP London enabling me to deliver bespoke courses to both primary and secondary age children. More recently I qualified as a psychological fitness teacher with Bounce Forward and am trained to teach their resilience programme.
I am a trained coach specialising in 1:1 resilience work with young people. My coaching practice is informed by mindfulness and positive psychology; I am currently studying for an MSc in applied positive psychology & coaching psychology with the university of East London.
In 2023 and following a global pandemic, I believe we need to pay attention to young peoples mental health and fitness now more than ever. I want to help ensure that our youngsters are given the space to live the lives they truly deserve and pursue their chosen pathways mindfully and with happiness in their hearts.
I bring to my coaching over 20 years of experience working with hundreds of wonderful youngsters and I am very excited about embarking upon this new chapter of my mindful journey x
